Increased Self-Esteem

Access to public transit and higher self-esteem are strongly correlated. Increased self-esteem is a measurable indicator that measures the likelihood of people moving around through public transport use. People who have higher self-esteem are more confident, outgoing, and sociable, all of which allow them to use transportation services more freely. On the other hand, individuals with low self-esteem are often reserved and introverted, and they are less likely to desire to utilize public transit.1

This indicator helps determine the effectiveness of the following objectives

Data Collection

The American Psychological Association (APA) website collates its data from a variety of sources, including surveys of its members, psychological literature, and government statistics. The American Psychological Association collects data on self-esteem which is used to help psychologists understand how self-esteem develops and changes over time.2

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is the organization that sets the standards for the self-esteem measurement of public transport users.
