Would you be happier living in a greener urban area?
A recent study found that people living in areas with more trees and green space are happier and healthier than those without. In the study, conducted by the University of Exeter, the data was derived from the Generalized Land Use Database, which classifies land use at high geographical resolution. The findings of the study suggested that people are happier when living in urban areas with greater amounts of green space compared to living in areas with less green space. The researchers found that people who lived in neighborhoods with more trees and green space were more likely to report higher levels of physical activity and overall satisfaction with their health.
