The Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator

The Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, provided by the EPA, can help us understand what reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1 million metric tons means in everyday terms, translating abstract measurements into concrete terms that we can understand, such as the annual emissions from cars, households, or power plants.

This tool will help achieve the goal of the following objectives

  • Less Contamination
  • Less Emissions
  • Less Traffic Noise
  • Connectivity and Inclusion
  • Healthy Destinations
  • Less Traffic Violence
  • Active Transportation
  • Green Space

Estimation Technique

This tool measures the proportion of vehicle emissions, and the findings provide a rough estimate of the amount of carbon dioxide emissions discharged into the atmosphere. The estimated results are inputted into the calculator that transforms energy emission data into numerical values, such as the yearly carbon dioxide emissions from households, automobiles, and other sources.
