The New European Driving Cycle (NEDC)

The New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is a tool used to estimate different automobiles’ fuel efficiency and pollution levels. In hybrid and completely electric M1 and N1 cars, the instrument monitors carbon dioxide levels, fuel consumption, and the electric energy consumption and range (speed points) assessment. According to the Constant Volume Sampling approach, emissions throughout the NEDC cycle are sampled, examined, and expressed for each pollutant in g/km.

This tool will help achieve the goal of the following objectives

  • Less Contamination
  • Less Emissions
  • Less Traffic Noise
  • Connectivity and Inclusion
  • Healthy Destinations
  • Less Traffic Violence
  • Active Transportation
  • Green Space

Estimation Technique

Each vehicle’s speed points against time are monitored and compared. This will provide the user information on how much fuel the vehicles use, which will provide some insight into the emissions the vehicles generate. Additionally, the tool is positioned at the vehicle’s tailpipe to collect the emissions that are discharged from the exhaust pipes. This process is carried out before and after the strategy is implemented. The vehicle emissions data are collected, analyzed, and recorded for each pollutant in g/km to calculate the emission rates using the constant volume sampling technique.
