The Smart Location Calculator

The Smart Location Calculator provides a way to estimate average employee commute vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and associated transportation impacts by workplace location. It provides an easy way to compare the relative location efficiency of work sites across a given metro region and inform the process of facility site selection.

This tool will help achieve the goal of the following objectives

  • Less Contamination
  • Less Emissions
  • Less Traffic Noise
  • Connectivity and Inclusion
  • Healthy Destinations
  • Less Traffic Violence
  • Active Transportation
  • Green Space

Estimation Technique

The average commuter or employee distance (in miles) before and after the strategy’s deployment is measured using the Smart Location tool, and the difference is later estimated.
The quantitative data gleaned is used to evaluate the greenhouse gas emissions released by these vehicles and to identify what steps may be taken to minimize them.
