Vision Zero Mapping Tool

The Toronto’s Vision Zero Map is an interactive tool that displays information on historical collisions (including fatalities and seriously injured) and safety measures that have been implemented under the City of Toronto’s Vision Zero program. The map was built to provide a transparent view into the historical locations of collisions in the city side by side with the suite of safety measures that are being deployed through the Vision Zero program.

This tool will help achieve the goal of the following objectives

  • Less Contamination
  • Less Emissions
  • Less Traffic Noise
  • Connectivity and Inclusion
  • Healthy Destinations
  • Less Traffic Violence
  • Active Transportation
  • Green Space

Estimation Technique

This tool allows users to input data about their city’s traffic conditions, including the number of traffic fatalities and severe injuries, the average speed of traffic, and the proportion of non-motorized vehicles on the road. The tool then estimates how many traffic fatalities could be prevented if the city implemented Vision Zero. However, the results of the Vision Zero Mapping Tool are only as accurate as the data that is inputted into it.
