Walkscore

Walkscore is a tool used to measure walkability to any location. The tool consists of numbers between 0 and 100 that indicate the walkability to a particular location by measuring the distance to a preferred location and providing insights into the need to utilize transport services, walk, or use a bicycle. Walkscore does not include such factors as topography, street design, available public transportation, or bodies of water in its ranking.

This tool will help achieve the goal of the following objectives

  • Less Contamination
  • Less Emissions
  • Less Traffic Noise
  • Connectivity and Inclusion
  • Healthy Destinations
  • Less Traffic Violence
  • Active Transportation
  • Green Space

Estimation Technique

The tool works by analyzing hundreds of walking routes to different locations. Points are awarded based on the distance to the location in each category. Locations within a 5-minute walk are given maximum points; the longer the walk, the lesser the points.
